Mayra is an inspiring teacher and mentor who combines creative inspiration with generosity towards students, while fostering an environment in which emerging writers feel both challenged and supported. Her courses are well designed, ambitious, and grounded in a deep understanding of craft and the business of publishing.
— Michelle Y. Valladares, Director, MFA Program in Creative Writing The City College of New York, CUNY
Students were highly engaged and had so many questions for Mayra during and after the workshop session. She stayed well after her presentation time in order to connect with students on a one on one level.

Mayra exceeded expectations. Allowing the students to ask personal questions gave them an opportunity to open up and think about their own goals.
